The outcome of a match of few clear-cut scoring opportunities was determined when the home side edged the three points with a late, late goal. Prior to that, the sides played an evenly-matched first half with Rovers being first to threaten when full-back Jay Palmer sent in a high looping cross forcing Town keeper Paul Hathaway to finger-tip to safety. ROVERS ON THE ROAD IN FA CUP

The long-awaited return to competitive action saw Rovers travel into Essex to face Isthmian Premier League side Bowers & Pitsea FC in an Emirates FA Cup Preliminary Round tie. The match was played on a pristine artificial surface and playing conditions were good with fine weather aplenty.
