An evenly-contested first half was shaded by Northwood in terms of possession. Jamie Nicholls for Rovers and Jermaine Osel for Northwood forced saves via headers from the respective keepers but these were the nearest either side came to opening the scoring in the first 45. The second half opened with a bang when, in the 46th minute, Rovers Dan Newton was deemed by the ref to have upended Northwood centre-forward Osel in the first Northwood attack of the second half - penalty, and Osel picked himself to calmly send Rovers keeper Matt Finlay the wrong way from the spot-kick. This signalled a spell of Northwood superiority but they were unable to add to their single goal and Rovers fought their way back into this game and, deservedly, salvaged a draw with 6 minutes of normal time remaining when a Northwood handball in their penalty area was spotted by the ref and a penalty-kick awarded - Danny Watson the Rovers centre-forward stepped up and made a clinical and accurate execution of the kick to level this match at 1-1. Both sides pressed for the winner in the remaining minutes but the match finished as a 1-1 draw.
