Kempston Rovers vs Barton Rovers Final Score

Updated: Apr 20, 2023

Barton confirmed their place in the relegation play-offs last night as they beat Kempston 1-2 away from home.

After having their bank holiday Monday game against the Walnuts postponed last week, Barton's game was rearranged to last night and they came out victorious. The win for the Blues meant that last night, FC Romania were relegated unless they win by a huge margin in their next game, and now we will face a TBC team at home on the 29th April to decide our fate for next season.

Barton got off to the worst start possible in their last away game of the season as the Walnuts took the lead in just the tenth minute of the tie, Ben Stevens putting the hosts ahead. Although the start was not ideal, Barton didn't let their heads drop and went in search for an equaliser and just seventeen minutes later, Kian Wilkes put the Blues level. Wilkes scored from a freekick after the keeper struggled to reach his bouncing shot.

Just before halftime, Kempston were forced into a substitution as Lee Cooksey picked up an injury and the two teams then went into the interval level.

In the second half, Barton had multiple chances through Adeyileka, Ryan and Mckenzie Lowe but none of them were put beyond the keeper. However, at the death of the game, player-manager Jermaine Hall pierced the back of the net as he placed his shot passed the keeper from a rebounded attempt by Adeyileka. After scoring in the 90+1 minute, there was four minutes to play and thankfully Barton held out and claimed a massive three points.

Barton Rovers take on Thame United at home next Saturday before their play-off game the following week.
