Rovers Defeated in County Cup by Step 3 Leighton Town

Barton Rovers exited the Bedfordshire Senior Cup following a 2-0 defeat to Step 3 side Leighton Town.

Rovers endured a difficult start to the contest, with a number of defensive errors nearly proving costly in the opening stages. However, goalkeeper Matt Boylan produced three important first-half saves to keep the hosts at bay.

Despite Boylan's efforts, Leighton broke the deadlock in the 42nd minute through Euan Warlow, whose strike gave the hosts the advantage heading towards the interval.

Leighton came close to doubling their lead moments later, striking the post as Rovers headed into the break trailing by a single goal.

The hosts continued to apply pressure after the restart and eventually doubled their advantage in the 59th minute, with Luke Pyman heading home to put Leighton firmly in control.

Despite Rovers' efforts, they were unable to find a way back into the contest, bringing their Bedfordshire Senior Cup campaign to an end.

Leighton Town progress to the next round, where they will travel to face Biggleswade FC.
