Rovers grab an important last minute point

28/10/23

Rovers grabbed a last minute point in injury time through Matt Moloney found the back of the net against Kings Langley.

Rovers had a nightmare start to the tie as they found themselves 0-1 down after just four minutes as the ball was crossed in across the box and fell to Rayan Clarke, who made no mistake from close range.

Despite the fact the that the visitors took an early lead, Rovers equalised before the ten minute mark when a ball through the middle was played into McKenzie who cooly slotted past the keeper.

The rest of the first half contained chances, mostly in favour of Kings Langley but the teams went in level at the interval.

In second half, Rayan Clarke got his second of the game after just ten minutes finishing well as Rovers got left exposed at the back.

However, similarly to the first half, Rovers weren’t behind for long as Joe Rider got on the scoresheet. He headed it in at the back post after Sam Willett brilliantly crossed the ball across the Kings Langley box.

Kings Langley re-took their lead in the sixty fifth minute just five minutes after Rovers levelled it with a goal from Howe that looked to be offside.

Rovers subbed on Hall and Maher to try and shake things up but they made matters harder for themselves when Kai Phelan was sent off in injury time. However, they managed it as at the death of the game, Matt Moloney equalised as Ciaran Maher played a great ball across the box!
